Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada - (LINC) 

Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) is a program funded by the Government of Canada through the Department of Citizenship and Immigration. This program is designed to give newcomers and immigrant the language skills in English and/or French to succeed in Canada. The Langugage Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) curriculum provides students with an introduction to life in Canada, Canadian cultures, Canadian customs, and Canadian society.

Clients eligible to participate in the Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) program are provided with an assessment using the The Canadian Language Benchmarks Assessment (CLBA). The Canadian Language Benchmarks Assessments (CLBA) provides an indication of the client’s reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills.

Who is Eligible?



  • Permanent residents

  • Landed Immigrants

  • Government Assisted Refugees

  • Convention Refugees

  • Protected Persons in possession of a Notice of Decision from the Immigration and Refugee BoardA newcomer who has been allowed in Canada, to whom Citizenship and Immigration Canada intends to provide permanent resident status

 

**Client must show proof of immigration status before being assessed.**

Length of Program



Adult Language and Learning’s Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) program. Classes run from Monday through Thursday, though class times may vary.

  • CLB - Canadian Level Benchmark - Literacy,  1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7



Eligible clients may be eligible for on-site child-childcare during LINC classes and transportation assistance.
